About this space
A place to settle in and get things done.
Common Ground is a purpose-driven social co-working café and community arts venue in Oxford’s Jericho area. Designed as a welcoming third space, it brings together a café, study and work area, and an event setting shaped around local community needs. Its daytime offer centres on locally roasted, ethically sourced coffee, organic and biodynamic teas, chai, hot chocolate, fresh pastries, sourdough and other sweet and savoury treats. The free-to-use work and study space is intended for working-from-home professionals, social entrepreneurs, students, local makers and artists, with a laid-back atmosphere and a safer-space policy. The venue has hosted live music, comedy, poetry, writing, drawing and other community arts events, as well as exhibitions and pop-up cultural activity. It can also be hired for events, with a licensed bar, sound equipment and support with the layout and atmosphere. Its Common Ground Sounds project focuses on making live performance more accessible to emerging and established local artists. The venue is currently temporarily closed during a change of ownership. A summer return has been announced, but no reopening date has been given. When operating, Common Ground’s strongest appeal is its blend of coffee-shop warmth, informal workspace and grassroots cultural programming, making it especially relevant to students, independent workers, artists, performers and community-minded visitors.
