About this space
A place to settle in and get things done.
Orbis Community is a not-for-profit creative community based across several sites in Gateshead. It brings together entrepreneurs, small businesses, artists, makers, designers, performers and community organisations in an open, inclusive environment shaped around collaboration and shared ideas. Its work includes affordable workspace, business development support, mentoring, networking and opportunities to connect with experienced professionals. The organisation also supports creative learning through workshops, exhibitions, education programmes, community-led events and town-centre regeneration projects, helping make creativity more visible and accessible across Gateshead. At the High Street site, the wider community includes a contemporary gallery, creative studios, a multi-use studio environment and a member-led maker space for people working with technology, science, traditional craft and electronic art. Other Orbis spaces provide studios, event facilities and activities involving textiles, printmaking, art and other hands-on creative practices. The atmosphere is practical, sociable and community-minded, with space for people to meet, work, share experience and develop new projects. Health and wellbeing activities, workshops and creative trails add a broader social dimension beyond day-to-day workspace. Orbis Community is likely to appeal to independent practitioners, cultural and creative SMEs, social enterprises, digital start-ups, students, community groups and anyone looking for an encouraging setting in which to learn, collaborate and contribute.
