About this space
A place to settle in and get things done.
SPACE York is a community-led co-working space in York for individuals and small businesses working across the creative, cultural, digital and community sectors. It combines practical workspace with a clear social purpose, aiming to support social and cultural innovation while keeping the atmosphere inclusive and collaborative. Members work from their own dedicated desk on a monthly membership basis, rather than using hot desks. Membership includes Wi-Fi, use of meeting spaces and a fully equipped kitchen, with a community of colleagues whose work spans creative, cultural and community activity. The setting is a light, spacious loft above Brew York, giving the space a distinctive character in the city centre. For meetings and group work, SPACE York offers a private room for up to six people as well as flexible open-plan areas for groups of around 10 to 12. Facilities include whiteboards, configurable tables, a smart TV and Mac Mini in the private room, alongside kitchen access and Wi-Fi. The venue is also dog friendly, with Barney and Dennis forming part of the wider membership. The space is run by volunteers as a non-profit community interest company. It is likely to suit freelancers, small teams, emerging social enterprises and organisations whose work has a creative, cultural or community focus, especially those who value a supportive network as much as a place to work. Visitors should note that access is via stairs and the existing service lift is not licensed for passengers; the team welcomes conversations about individual access needs.
