About this space
A place to settle in and get things done.
The Community Rooms were a bright, airy co-working and events space in central Cardiff, operated by The Arcade Vaults. Although tailored to people working in and around videogames, the space was open to anyone seeking a distinctive place to work, meet or take part in the local creative community. Desk hire was offered in single-day, part-time and full-time packages, making it suitable for freelancers, independent developers, creators and others needing a flexible alternative to home working. Facilities included superfast broadband with wired and wireless options, shared areas with TV and projection, and free tea and coffee, alongside microwave and fridge facilities. The rooms could also be used for meetings and evening or Saturday events, subject to availability. The wider programme brought together networking, skills-sharing, seminars and educational activities for schools, non-games-industry organisations, companies and hobbyists. It had a clear community purpose: helping people understand how games are made while connecting players, makers and learners. When not being used for private hire or events, the third floor could open up for additional games, board games and a dedicated VR setup, giving the venue a sociable, playful character rather than a conventional office feel. The Community Rooms closed in March 2023, so this description is best retained as a historical record rather than a current service guide.
