About this space
A place to settle in and get things done.
The HUB Consett is a community café, local shop and coworking venue serving Consett and the wider North East. Visitors can drop in for breakfast, toasties, sandwiches, jackets, scones, cakes and drinks, while the shop showcases products from local suppliers and makers. For people who need somewhere to work, learn or meet, the venue provides hot desking and room hire, with space for networking, training, workshops and community activities. It is designed to suit independent workers, small businesses, visiting organisations and local groups looking for a welcoming place to work or gather. The café and lounge offer a relaxed setting where you can enjoy a drink, browse local products, work quietly with a laptop or have a chat with friends. The business also hosts community events and provides a base for organisations supporting people on self-employment journeys, alongside work-experience opportunities for young people. The HUB is owned and operated by Celebrate Difference, a social enterprise supporting neurodivergent people in business through training, coaching, mentoring and related initiatives. This gives the venue a distinctive community purpose, with an atmosphere centred on inclusion, connection and practical support. It is also described by the operator as having quieter seating, step-free access features and an accessible toilet, subject to human verification against the current on-site arrangements.
