About this space
A place to settle in and get things done.
Wellington Studios is an independent creative workspace in Ancoats, bringing artist studios, co-working facilities and flexible room hire together in a characterful former mill. Founded in 2018 by Sean McGrath and Felicity Faye, it was created to offer affordable, high-quality space that supports collaboration and a stronger sense of community. The Ancoats site includes artist studios in a range of sizes, alongside a bright communal area with a kitchen, TV, dart board and washout sink. Studio arrangements include electricity, water, Wi-Fi and communal cleaning, while the meeting room is available for studio users and can also be hired separately. The space is designed for creatives who value practical facilities without losing the personality of an industrial setting. For meetings, workshops and gatherings, Wellington Studios offers an open-plan event space with exposed brickwork, original pillars and arches, natural light, a kitchen with tea and coffee facilities, and breakout seating. Its smaller meeting room has a large table and chairs, with kitchen and toilet facilities nearby. The adaptable setting suits creative workshops, collaborative sessions, talks and informal events. The community includes visual and fine artists, filmmakers, illustrators, costume and textile designers, animators, ceramicists, printmakers, video-game designers and silversmiths. Whether you are looking for a dedicated studio, a distinctive place to meet or room for a creative project, the atmosphere is collaborative and welcoming. The Ancoats venue is also close to New Islington tram stop, making it straightforward to reach for members, collaborators and event guests.
